myMQ Password Management : Self Service
Password Management Self Service is a new feature of myMQ that will allow you to set up your own Secret Question and Answers that can be used to assist you should you forget your password. You no longer have to contact IT Help to reset your password, you will be able to do it yourself anytime, anywhere.
How to Setup Your Password Self Service:
Existing Students
Login to the myMQ and click on the link Setting up your Secret Question & Answers
in the Account Administration channel.
New Students:
A letter is mailed to you with your initial password.
This password is made up of 2 random characters plus your date of birth in DDMMYY format and
is used the first time you log into myMQ. You will be directed to change this password
and you can setup your secret question at that time.
Secret Question and Answer Choices
The Four (4) Questions are:
- Your Surname, (the answer is supplied from the student system)
- Your Date of Birth, (the answer is supplied from the student system in DDMMYY format)
- Your City of Birth, you type in this answer
- From a drop down list , choose ONE of the following questions and type your answer:
- Favourite Pet's Name
- Anniversary Date (dd/mm/yy)
- Mother's Middle Name
- Father's Middle Name
- First Child's Middle Name
- High School Name
- Answers are not case sensitive
- Answers can not be accessed by the Help Desk
- Your answers and or question selections can be changed at any time via this link
What if I have forgotten my password?
To use this feature you must have previously entered your 4 secret question and answers. Below the myMQ log in, click on the link Forgotten your password? to access the password self service facility.
You will be prompted for your student number and then asked to enter responses to your 4 Secret Questions. Upon giving the correct answers, you will be asked to enter your new password. Please also see the guidelines to create a secure password.
What if I can not remember my answers or have not set up my questions?
Contact the IT Help directly to have your password reset.
If you did not enter a secret question and answer, you cannot reset your password via the self service facility. Contact IT Help to have your password reset and they will be able to help you to set up your secret question and answers.
